GI Midterm in Two Days

And I'm completely exhausted. I'm not good at this staying up late at night and studying business anymore. Its almost 2 am and I'm soooooooo sleepy. The good thing is that I've gone through ALL 23 lectures so far, BUT I still have pathology images and PBL cases and lab cases to review, not to mention that I still need to review how everything gets secreted and what stimulates what O_o There are more hormones in the GI system than in the endocrine system... or at least it feels that way haha.

Anyways, I should be okay, time-wise I think. My goal was to get through all the lectures I had left today and review 2 PBL cases. I did the lecture, and now I'm going to review the PBL cases.... I'm just waiting for the facilitator notes to print. I don't know why its taking so long........ Anyways, I think I have enough energy to stay awake enough to at least review the first one, the one I didn't understand as we were discussing it in class haha. The second one was a really easy one, and the notes seem really long with a lot of research citatations thrown in (annoying!!) sooo I think I'm going to skim it in the morning or maybe skip it.
Bleh. The material for this class isn't so bad. Its pretty simple and straight forward, but I think because its straight forward, they're expecting us to know a LOT of detail.

My exam is on Monday, and they're giving us Tuesday off. I am so going to go shopping!! My special-occasion-gift-money is begging to be spent haha. I want tall, flat suede boots. But I can't bc the only way I could wear them would be with skinny jeans.... And they don't make any for people with my body type. Its quite annoying :(

Umm what else? I'm just here writing nonsense haha. Just waiting for the case to finish printing...
Ohh yea. I'm over my crush on that first year. It was a really stupid and really brief crush.
Ohh and I was talking to my friends, and we're guessing about 60-75% of our class is married, engaged, or engaged to be engaged (aka serious relationships). Everyone really is engaged or married in med school. I had friends that used to say that but now I realize omg they are so right haha.

Not much else going on in my life. Same old thing. Nothing too interesting. Life of a mundane medical student I guess. I wish there was some excitement going on. Sadly, Naz, you are my only source of excitement when you give me daily updates on the situation haha. How pathatic is that lol?? My own life is so boring and predictable that I have to rely on you for my source of excitement hahahaha... Its kind of really sad, but I'm cracking up. I think its the sleep deprivation.

On another note, I tried on 3 pairs of jeans -- one purposefully ripped pair, one really dark wash from express, and my only pair of "skinny" jeans that are actually straight -- they were all previously too tight bc I gained too much weight in a short amount of time... Now they all fit me comfortably enough again!!! Well, the straight ones and the ripped ones do but the express ones have the gap in the back... I'll figure something out for those... But 2 out of 3 isn't bad!! :D

Until the next one then.

Lost Weight...

So I weighed myself after Ramadan was over, and I lost close to 5 pounds (somehow). I think it was probably because I didn't eat very much at all, and therefore I thought I lost mostly muscle mass (because in metabolism, first thing to go is your stored carbs in the form of glycogen, and then the next thing to start being broken down is proteins -- if I remember correctly from my biochem/metabolism class). Anyways, I thought I lost mostly muscle mass prob from my legs since I really didn't do any heavy walking. Now, I have to dress up nearly every week because of seeing standardized patients and seeing real patients, and the med school's policy is to look professional every and any time there is a patient (real or standardized) involved. So, I have to dress up, which is a pain in the ass, but, a lot of my shirts can double as casual and dressy if i stick it with my white coat and dress pants so it works out. What's pissing me off is that the weight I lost is apparently around my WAIST. Because of that, my dress pants now all have the gap and a belt doesn't look right bc it bunches up in the back under my shirt. Normally, I wouldn't care so much since I'd have my white coat over it, but its hot, and I can't wear that coat all the time and I don't like wearing it when I'm studying bc knowing my clumsy ass, I'd probably get highlighter all over the sleeves -- I mean, that's already happened once.
But yea, I'm mad my dress pants don't fit me right anymore. >.<
They used to fit around the waist and hips and I thought I was so lucky for finding dress pants that fit.
Why couldn't the weight have been from my hips?????? :(

On another note, I hate the book we're supposed to read out of for this class. Its so wordy and the author could say things much more concisely if she wanted to, but nooo, she decided to be a wordy and pretentious butthead. I'm seriously considering not reading it for my test bc it sucks. Ugh.

Until the next one then.

Med school is kind of lonely... I thought I was okay with it.. maybe not. Who knows? I sure as hell don't. All I know is that I've gone two days without seeing another human being, which might have something to do with it. I've been holed up in my place trying to study but failing miserably. I've only listened and gone over three lectures since Friday afternoon, and that's something I do on a regular basis everyday.
*sigh*
:(

Until the next one then.

I just signed up for a $700 review course for the USMLE step 1 exam that I'll be taking in the summer next year. O_o

Freaking out just a little bit.

Until the next one then.

*Sigh*

This pulmonary final is going to kick my ass.
I feel stupid even though I've gone over it a million times.
The practice exam was friggin unbelievable. If the real thing is like that, I dunno what's going to happen... Well, I got like a 80 on it, but the real thing is always harder than the practice even though the questions are supposedly drawn from the same question bank. Ugh.

Other things bothering me... hmm...
It doesn't feel like Ramadan. I'm fasting and stuff, but I've been so busy with exams that I haven't had time to do other things.
All my med school friends are dating someone. Its annoying me bc I sit there when they're complaining or having discussion about their boyfriends, and all I can think about is, Really? Shouldn't you be happy you're in a relationship??
I'm convinced I'm going to be single forever... but we'll see.

Until the next one then.
