Update on my finger

So my paronychia hasn't gotten better. The incision made by the dermatology resident sealed up again, and the antibiotic Bactrim wasn't getting the infection. I have an idea of why... either because its not a Staphylococcus aureus infection or the antibiotic isn't for a particular strain of strep -- I think its Streptococcus pyogenes that causes it... OR the antibiotic isn't getting to that area maybe because it walled itself off. I got put on another antibiotic -- Doxycycline, and apparently, you can't have any dairy 2 hours before or after it. Interesting. I should look that up.
Anyhow, a tiny abscess formed in my finger right under the incision. I kept soaking it in warm water and squeezing my finger, until the incision popped. Good lord there was a lot of pus in there... As soon as the incision reopened, it just all oozed out since there's a lot of pressure in my finger. It was pretty gross. Then it bled a little, and then a clear fluid came out which I think is the inflammatory exudate that's coming from my blood to help fight off the infection. Now since the incision is open, I sterilized it and covered it with Bactroban (topical antibiotic) so that it can penetrate and start killing those damn bacteria that have been plaguing me for almost 2 weeks now!!! Since I opened it up and drained it a little, there is finally some pressure relief. I haven't felt any sort of relief since the first day my finger swelled up about 1.5 weeks ago.

Pray that the doxycycline and bactroban do their job.

My Poor Finger...

... Got infected somehow. I ended up with paronychia..... basically a giant abscess on the lateral aspect of my fingernail that extended almost all the way around my finger causing swelling and intense pain. I couldn't write pages and pages of notes bc its on my left index finger, and typing feels wierd with two fingers (i don't really use my pinky when I type except for hitting the shift key).

I had to go to derm today and get a I&D done. That thing needed to be drained. The derm chief resident took a look at it and was like, "oh yea, that needs to be drained. Yesss I get to do a I&D today." I just sat there thinking Uhhh.. My finger hurts. Please just fix it. Anyways, she did it... Injected lidocaine to numb the area first -- that was weird... intense pressure but no real pain. Then she made a tiny incision and squeezed out all the pus and blood in my finger. Soooooo the lidocaine wore off pretty quickly, and so my finger HURTS SO BAD. :( Still can't type properly, and definitely can't write more than a couple of words in bad handwriting.

Second year SUCKS.

Opposite the bed - my dresser + mirror with tiny lamp above it. That's the poster I don't know where to put. Its either going to go on the wall next to my closet door, or in the living room where the circle mirrors are.

Big closets make me happy :)

This is how I study

All my booksies. I have quite a bit. Almost all of it is from 1st year with only a couple from undergrad and a couple fun books. Had to start from the bottom to stabilize the shelf haha... My books are so heavy that the shelf would have toppled over if I started at the top.

Okay, I think that's all of it. I dont think you guys need to see the bathroom haha. I'll just tell you its pretty small in comparison to the rest of the place. Oh well.

I'm supposed to be getting my sofa tomorrow.. yayyy. No more sitting on the carpet against the wall hahaha. Actually, my living room still sort of looks like I haven't moved in all the way yet since its strewn with cushions and my rug is rolled up in a corner and my coffee table is in another corner and I have boxes in front of my fireplace and I have two posters that I'm debating if I want to put up. I don't know what to do with those boxes bc I don't have space for them inside, outside storage is kind of yucky, and I don't want to throw them away haha.

My bedroom on the other hand is fine. My desk is a little messy, and I have jeans piled up on my work chair haha, so I need to clean all of that up. My bathroom is okay too, except I need to clean it before taking any pics haha. There's dust everywhere bc I didn't really clean it after coming back from summer break. Other than that, its not that messy. I just wish my bathroom counter was bigger. I love big counter sinks like in my bathroom at home. I think I was spoiled by it...

Ok yea, time for me to go to class, but I just wanted to say pics are coming soon--after my sofa is delivered and after I clean up a little.

No Motivation

Ughhhhhhhhhhh. I can't seem to sit down long enough to listen to more than one lecture. The plan for this weekend was to listen to 3 lectures, go over notes, and do the reading for them. So far, I've only listened to one lecture and its already 4pm. Soooo mad at myself. At least on Monday and Tuesday, I don't really have class except for PBL so I have two more days to catch up. I guess that works out.

Anyways, yesterday, I didn't do anything at ALL. First of all, I woke up really late (at 2pm) so half the day was gone as it was. Then when I should have been studying, I didn't. All I did was be on the computer organizing my crap, which I sooo could have and should have done at some other time. Ehh oh well.

Then when I realized I did nothing all day, I gave up on studying for the day, and I watched the movie Aa Dekhen Zara. The movie was alright as a storyline. I don't know which Hollywood movie they copied  got their inspiration from though. I feel like I've heard of something like this movie. Basically its about a guy who inherits a camera from his grandfather that takes pictures of the future. The plot was alright, not too bad, kind of predictable, but its Bollywood. I've seen enough where I can pretty much predict what's going on. Anyhoo, Bipasha is in it :) hahaha. There's this one song called "Gazab" from the movie.. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N26eh1Aka3w) woahhh she looks hot. And I like the song too. For some reason, on youtube, the song sounds different. The guy's name is Neil Nitin Mukesh, and he's aiite as an actor, but I don't think he can dance. They were crafty with the cinematography where you couldn't really tell. Anyways, that's my "review." Okay movie. Bipasha looked hot. The guy was okay. The ending was kind of stupid. It should have ended differently, but how it should have ended, I don't know.

-Ishq ka Kalma - Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (or just Goal for short) - looove this song. Kind of old. They say "make my baby stay" NOT "i think my baby's gay." Watch the video on youtube... john abraham <3
-If I'm naming older songs, i dunno if you've heard it but Dhoom Tana from Om Shanti Om.

I'm still listening to new songs from the movies Kambakkht Ishq, Kaminey, Luck, Love Aaj Kal, Kisaan, New York, and Short Kut, and deciding if they're worthy or not. Yeaaa, I just got a whole bunch of new music... I think the Bollywood industry was on some sort of hiatus, not sure about the details, but these are all movies I'm going to watch... as soon as I watch Ghajini, Billu Barber, Luck by Chance, and one more that I don't remember.

Ok, now I think I took enough of a break. I think I'm going to work out, take a shower, eat food, then listen to one more lecture before bed. I have class at 8 tomorrow... BOOOOOO.
